About United

United Industries, Inc. was founded in 1954 as a municipal equipment distribution company serving the needs of municipal water and wastewater treatment departments. Since municipal swimming pools were often the responsibility of the water department, the company quickly evolved into a supplier of mechanical equipment and supplies for municipal pools. The most important piece of mechanical equipment on a municipal swimming pool is the filter system, so United Industries added the capability to design and manufacture filtration systems for commercial recreational water facilities.

By 1956, the recreational water portion of the business had grown to the point that the SwimTime® Division was formed. The first SwimTime® Commercial Aquatics Equipment catalog was issued in the following year. At the peak of distribution, the annual SwimTime® catalog was sent to nearly 55,000 commercial aquatic facilities across the USA and abroad. With a sampling of approximately 1,800 of more than 25,000 items from numerous vendors, it was a great source for the construction, operation, maintenance and restoration of commercial aquatic facilities. With the growth of e-commerce and corresponding decline of traditional catalog sales, today the SwimTime® Division is focused on new construction and large-scale retrofits of commercial aquatic facilities.

In 1979, based on its demonstrated expertise in water filtration, United was approached by a nationally known water treatment consulting firm to design and manufacture a filtration system for application to the water in a cooling tower. This project led to the development of the Tower-Flo® filter system, and by 1986 grew into the Tower-Flo® Division of United Industries. Tower-Flo® filters are represented by more than 40 manufacturers rep organizations in the US and internationally. In March 2009 a line of centrifugal separators was added as a complement to the sand filter systems. The Tower-Flo® Division has grown to include industrial process filtration in addition to cooling towers.

SwimTime® High-Rate Sand Filters, Horizon FW® Fiberglass Sand Filters, and TowerFlo® Water Filter Systems, as well as numerous additional components designed for their respective markets, are fabricated in a 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility located in Sterling, Kansas. United Industries is committed to using the best manufacturing processes in the industry - automated submerged arc welding for the fabrication of all metal vessels, Uniflex lining with a 15-year warranty, holiday spark verification, and final test of every vessel. Custom capabilities include stainless steel, aluminum, other exotic metals, special coatings, and manifold systems for large projects.

United Industries, Inc. is a privately held corporation in the State of Kansas.
